1. A man may pass his yeast infection to his partner in case he does not get it treated. Similarly, she too can pass it back to him. To eradicate the yeast infection, it is important that both sexual partners get treated.

2. It may happen that the man is suffering from genital herpes, a different medical condition; but the man is under the impression that he is suffering from yeast infection. A sexually transmitted disease having symptoms of little itchy bumps is called genital herpes. Yeast infection is cured by certain medicines which do not cure a chronic disease like genital herpes.

It is for these same reasons that a person suffering from these same reasons avoids self diagnosis and gets himself investigated by a health care provider.
